Polish is one of the most widely spoken Slavic languages and is grouped into the ‘West Slavic’ amongst them. The Polish alphabet contains several additions to basic Latin Script.

The Slavic or Slavonic languages are a group of closely related tongues of the Slavic people and a subgroup of Indo-European languages. Speakers are mostly in Eastern Europe, the Balkans as well as parts of Central Europe and North East Asia.

Even if you plan to hire an interpreter for a corporate event or for parts of a holiday, whether travelling to or from Poland, it can be nice to be able to at least say hello and introduce yourself. Below is a short video of how to do this. It looks at the differences between formal and informal situations for speaking Polish and when you need to address a man or a woman differently.

It only takes a few minutes and you may need to listen to it a few times but it’s well worth it. See if you can use it this weekend!
